Bath MP, Wera Hobhouse, has urged eligible constituents to apply for Pension Credit. Applications made by 18th December can be backdated and include the £324 cost of living payment.

Pension Credit helps low-income pensioners with their living costs by providing more than £3,300 per year on average. It is also a ‘passporting benefit’ which can give claimants access to schemes such as the free TV-licence for over-75s, and now cost of living support payments.

The benefit can be backdated for up to three months and would make applicants eligible for the second cost of living support payment of £324.

Eligible pensioners can apply online or by calling: 0800 99 1234

Wera Hobhouse, MP for Bath, commented: “Pension Credit is an important way for elderly people to make the most of the support which is available to them. Pensioners’ budgets are being stretched thin due to rising prices, so it is crucial that they have applied for Pension Credit.

“Pension Credit is a consistently under-claimed benefit and there are likely still many eligible people in Bath who are missing out.”
