A Midsomer Norton mum who suffered pregnancy losses and now runs a local support group to help other women, is holding a fundraising and awareness raising event next month to help her set up a charity.

Chantelle Walmsley (pictured), is a pregnancy loss empowerment practitioner trainee, as well as a nurse, and an author, and is holding a fundraising evening on Friday, 28th April, at Paulton Rovers, Francis Suite, to raise awareness for HeartTalks.

Chantelle said: “I established HeartTalks to provide hope and empower voices following pregnancy loss.

“Having myself experienced the challenge of accessing support during the pandemic following recurrent pregnancy loss, from this space of authenticity, I set out on a mission to not only bring about change but to connect with other whispering hearts also requiring support at this difficult time.

“After carrying out a local survey to understand the need for support locally, I set up a monthly peer support circle/group. We run our sessions once a month at Unit 14 in Midsomer Norton. It is a gentle and supportive space for deep connection following loss.”

Following an interview in November for Somer Valley FM’s power hour with Yvonne, to discuss the experience of pregnancy loss, HeartTalks was nominated for this year’s Bath Life Awards and is a Finalist in the Health and well-being Category.

Chantelle now plans to apply for charity status for HeartTalks. She added: “We are hoping to submit a charity application and are calling on the community to support us with this process.”

“The fundraising evening ‘Boom Shake the 90’s’ will have live music, disco and a raffle on the night to help raise awareness and funds to continue our important service and submit our application.”

Tickets can be bought online via ticketsource, or at Party at the Hollies MSN or behind the bar at Paulton Rovers.
