Readers of The Journal may recall our recent competition, in partnership with Radstock Museum, where readers were asked to submit their own photographs of the locations of our weekly Mystery Photo series in the present day.

The award ceremony took place last Saturday, where the winners’ ‘Now’ pictures were selected to appear alongside the Museum’s ‘Then’ images in their archive, to be seen for years to come.

Journal contributor, Will Nicol, was selected as photographic judge, and chose John Rawlings’ image of Ammerdown Tower from a drone as the winner overall.

Will said: “I chose this photograph as it showed a completely new perspective of Ammerdown Tower. Tracks in the field of rape and the ornate stonework around it, which you cannot see at ground level, makes this an outstanding photograph of the Tower.”

The other winners were Dave Urch for his pictures of modern-day Coleford and Mells, Eugene Kritzmann for his shot of Midsomer Norton, Stuart Tibbs for his picture of Stanton Drew, Geoffrey Noad for his image of Bath Road, Paulton, Mark Warner for his shot of Station Road, Clutton, and Sarah Brown for her photo of Clandown.

Well done to those who won, and thanks to everyone who took part!
