A woman who has dedicated her life to raising awareness of dementia will be the guest speaker at an event in Peasedown St John.
Sarah Martins-Williams is founder and Chair of the B&NES Dementia Action Alliance, which has grown to become an established and recognised charity with 47 volunteers and a core group of four trustees.
The organisation has helped over 200 businesses and organisations to better understand dementia and take steps to become more dementia-friendly.
Last November, Sarah was awarded by the Alzheimer’s Society for creating 700 dementia friends throughout the city of Bath in just one year.

Her knowledge and experience will give us lots of ideas and encouragement for our new dementia action plan.
“With a growing number of people from all backgrounds being diagnosed with the condition, it is becoming more important for us to create dementia-friendly communities where everyone feels welcomed and included.”
There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
