The Friends of Silver Street Nature Reserve group are happy to have received another level five ‘Outstanding’ award from RHS ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’.

Denise James from In Bloom came to the woods last Wednesday to present the group with a certificate. Denise said: “Midsomer Norton is lucky to have such a lovely nature reserve on its doorstep, one that is kept in such good order by a dedicated group of volunteers.”

We have been entering It’s Your Neighbourhood for seven years now, and with this being our fifth ‘Outstanding’ award, we must be doing something right.

This year we have put in a new noticeboard, repaired the woodland pathway, installed a litter bin in the woods, worked hard in the meadow to cut back the brambles, and with the expert help of Chris, built hedges along Park Way that have made a difference.

The Barn Owls have had a good year, so we are ever hopeful that two will find a home in the box we have provided next year.

So many people use the woods and meadow to enjoy the countryside, and we are always getting good reports, so if you wish to join our group, please phone: 01761 411292 for details.
