Some of the local pharmacies will be open over New Year, offering advice on common illnesses and the best medicines to treat them.
Fiona Castle, Chief Officer, Pharmaceutical Committees, said: “Pharmacists are able to offer advice on some minor ailments and are always willing to help, so do please pop in to your local pharmacy if you or someone you care for are starting to feel unwell and would like some advice.”
People can order and renew prescriptions through the GP Online Service provided by NHS England. You can find out more about this service and registering through your GP practice by visiting: www.nhs.uk
Please keep in mind your GP surgery will have reduced opening hours over New Year, so it is recommended that you check opening hours with your local surgery. If you need advice, call NHS 111 who will assist you. For minor injuries and illnesses, please visit your nearest walk-in centre or minor injuries unit (MIU).
