A new short film has been produced to showcase some of the positive contributions that organisations are making to civic life in Peasedown St John.
What Does Peasedown Mean to You? is a new feel-good film commissioned by local Independent Councillors, Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan. The aim was to produce something that accurately captured and celebrated the voluntary work that goes on throughout the village all year around.
Cllr Sarah Bevan said: “Peasedown St John means a lot to us, so we wanted to make a film about it! Day in, day out, there are people who go that extra mile to help others, and for many years have been behind some of the village’s most active community groups.
“The film shows a selection of interviews with business, community and religious leaders, all of which do something to make our village special!”
The four-minute film was produced by Stu Tucker, who spent a day filming last November, followed by a week of editing and production.
Stu said: “I’m used to capturing footage from weddings and family celebrations, so the work I’ve done in Peasedown St John over the last year has been quite different, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
“All the community groups and businesses I visited last year were excited to take part. It’s not every day a film like this is produced, so it was a joy to be a part of.”
The film was released on social media last week, and received 9,000 views within seven days of being uploaded.
Cllr Karen Walker added: “The response we’ve had from the community has been fantastic. We are grateful to everyone who has liked and shared the film. It’s a testament to the strength of community spirit in our village.”
