RESIDENTS have described Lidl’s proposal for a new Midsomer Norton store as “a long time coming” following the submission of plans to Bath and North East Somerset Council.
Lidl GB has submitted plans for a new store off Radstock Road in Midsomer Norton, proposing to relocate its existing High Street branch.
The proposals outline a larger, modern supermarket incorporating updated specifications, including solar panels and an expanded car park with electric vehicle charging points. With the application now lodged, Lidl is inviting residents to share their views with Bath and North East Somerset Council.
Following a successful consultation with the community, with 80 per cent of respondents in favour of the plans, Lidl is encouraging residents to share their views directly with Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Council planning department to make sure their voices are heard.
Those in favour of the plans noted the enhanced offering the larger store would deliver on a more convenient location calling it a “welcome move” and a “long time coming”. The improved in-store facilities were also highlighted by supporters which include solar panels to help power the store and a larger car park with electric vehicle charging points.
With plans now submitted to Bath and North East Somerset Council, Lidl is encouraging residents to submit their views to the council’s planning department to help ensure the plans are approved.
Glen Stidever, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “After serving the community in Midsomer Norton for almost three decades, we believe households here deserve more.
“Thank you to everyone who came out and showed their support for our plans. With our proposals now submitted, we’d encourage residents to continue to register their support with Bath and North East Somerset Council.”
