The Queen’s New Years Honours list for 2019 was announced on 28th December, recognising the achievements of many across the United Kingdom.
In the local area, three names were listed to receive honours. A Medal of the British Empire (MBE) will be awarded to Adrian Secker, Police Constable for Avon and Somerset Constabulary. His award is in recognition “for services to Policing and the community” in Bath.
The Order of the British Empire (OBE) will be given to two recipients. Professor William John Armitage, Emeritus Professor at the University of Bristol and Director of Bristol Tissue Bank, will receive recognition “for services to Corneal Transplantation,” and lives in Wells.
Rachel Dawn Pounds, Head of Operations, Emergency Health Unit at the Save the Children charity in Bath, will also be awarded “for Humanitarian services.”
