Wellow is a rural village located approximately five miles south of Bath, within the Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) unitary authority area.

Surrounded by countryside and lying within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wellow is known for its historic character and strong community spirit. The village has ancient roots, with evidence of Roman and medieval settlement nearby.

The Wellow Brook runs through the village, and the remains of the Roman Fosse Way are close by. The Church of St. Julian, a Grade I listed building, dates back to the 12th century and is one of Wellow’s most significant historical landmarks.

Despite its rural setting, Wellow has an active and engaged community. It is home to a well-regarded primary school (St Julian’s Church School), a popular village pub called The Fox and Badger, and a village hall that hosts local events and activities.

The area also features the Wellow Trekking Centre, which offers horse riding and pony trekking experiences. Many of the village's stone cottages and period buildings reflect its historic charm, and there is a strong focus on environmental sustainability and conservation.

While public transport is limited, the village is within easy reach of Bath by car and offers scenic walking and cycling routes, making it a desirable location for those seeking a peaceful, countryside lifestyle with access to urban amenities.

Wellow continues to maintain a balance between preserving its historical character and supporting a modern, connected rural community, with residents actively involved in local initiatives and the upkeep of village life.
