This year’s Midsomer Norton Christmas event is all set for Friday, 4th December and promises to be ‘Not such a Silent Night’!

The event, sponsored by Midsomer Norton Town Council, will be centred on the Hollies Gardens from 6.15 p.m., when Father Christmas himself is expected to drop in from his busy schedule and briefly join in with the Christmas Sing Along featuring local school choirs. A contemporary band will then be taking the lead and playing much-loved Christmas songs everyone can join in with, along with The Bath Spa Band, who will be playing a range of traditional Christmas Carols as free mince pies and fruit punch are served. We are inviting everyone to add to the fun of the evening by wearing their favourite Christmas jumper.

Back by popular demand, there will be the opportunity to borrow costumes and have your photo taken with friends and family for free in the traditional nativity scene. Also, don’t miss the giant ‘Pass the Parcel’ that will be taking place in the Hollies. The lower High Street from Martins to Sainsbury’s exit will be closed to make space for a Community Christmas Market of local community groups and the Midsomer Crafter stalls.

The newly-named Somer Valley Chamber of Commerce will again be managing this year’s event, along with Midsomer Norton Churches Together, who are taking the lead on the events in the Hollies Gardens, with the Midsomer Norton Community Trust organising the Community Christmas Market. The Midsomer Norton and District Carnival Association will be taking the lead operationally on event management and marshalling, donating their services as a thank you for all the support received from the community for Carnival this year.

At around 7.15 p.m., there will be the time honoured Christmas Lights Switch-on with the town’s Carnival Royalty assisting the Mayor of Midsomer Norton and Chair of Bath and North East Somerset Council.
