Midsomer Norton Town Council met on Monday, 2nd October, to announce a few changes to staffing; the Council welcomed two new members, whilst bidding farewell to a fellow Councillor, who resigned at the end of last month.
The new Town Clerk, Katie Mason's, role includes writing minutes for the next Town Council meeting, published to the Midsomer Norton Town Council website monthly, where you can find point 103, which says - To note resignation of Town Councillor:
Cllr Jemma Griffiths has resigned as a Town Councillor. A formal Councillor vacancy notice has been published with a closing date of Friday, 13th October for written requests to be sent to B&NES for an election.
The notice was published on the Council website on 25th September stating ‘the vacancy will be filled by election if, within fourteen working days of the date of this notice, any ten local government electors for Midsomer Norton Town Council submit a written request to The Returning Officer, BANES...
...If no such request is made the vacancy will be filled by co-option by the Town Council.’- meaning after that time, if someone wants to become a Councillor, they will put themselves forward and the Town Council will decide (vote).
Local government electors have until 13th October to submit a written request to BANES.
