Congratulations to Landlady, Maxine McCluskey, and her team at the Old Down Inn, Emborough, who have been nominated for a Rural Oscar as part of the Countryside Alliance Awards. The competition is now in its fourteenth year.

Wells MP, James Heappey, visited the pub last Friday to support the Old Down Inn.

Nine regional champions from five categories will be invited to Parliament for the national finals in the presence of MPs, with the winners crowned at the House of Lords.

The final takes place in June, with the categories being Local Food and Drink, Village Shop and Post Office, Butcher, Rural Enterprise, and of course, Pub!

Maxine and the staff are very proud to be nominated and were delighted that James showed his support.
