Dave Parsons and Jazz Lamport pictured with the vast amount of lyrics they are working through!

A mutual love of music, bringing together Dave Parsons, a six-time semi-finalist for the Brit-sponsored songwriter of the year, and talented local musician, Jasmine Lamport, or Jazz 'Littlebird' (as she is known for her gentle voice), seems like a winning combination. And this dynamic duo are hoping it will be so.

Dave, a songwriter from Midsomer Norton, met 25-year-old Jazz through a mutual friend he had already written songs with and in six months, the pair have crafted 22 songs between them, with five nearly ready to go. Jazz, originally from Bath, but currently living in High Littleton, is hoping to attract major record label interest.

The first single to be released will be 'Breathe', which is due in two weeks' time and was recorded in Bath's Love Town Music Studios. It is hoped that a five-track EP will be released soon. 'Breathe' has so far had over 7,000 'views' and many listeners have commented on Jazz's voice.

"We met one day last July by the off-chance," explains Jazz. "Something just clicked and we've been writing and harping on about all things musical ever since. Dave is a very talented lyricist and songwriter, so we bounce ideas off each other all the time. He is also my number one trusted advisor and coach, though he would never take any credit for that!"

Dave is a prolific songwriter, having worked with well-known local singers and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Eric Clapton's bass player, Dave Bronze. He has championed upcoming band, Saturday Sun (album Orixe), local band, Yellowgroove, and singer, Jack Savoretti.

Dave is from a musical family and began writing songs at the age of fourteen, but didn't continue along that path. He was inspired to pick up a pen again six years ago at the age of 43 and hasn't looked back since.

Speaking about his collaboration with Jazz, Dave said: "Something between us just gelled ... it just kind of works – it is a very natural collaboration. I see great potential in Jazz and the industry will wake up to her. It might not be one of my songs that makes her successful, but I truly believe she will go on to great things.

"People underestimate the talent that is around locally – and we don't shout about it enough. Our area is an incredibly creative place."
