Senior residents in Peasedown St John have been enjoying a fun-filled ‘holiday at home’ thanks to a grant of £500 from Peasedown St John Parish Council.

The grant helped to pay towards three days of activities including cookery, knitting, puzzles and a day trip to a museum in Portbury, together with some delicious home-cooked meals.

Parish Councillors, Jo Davis and Andrew Larcombe, went along to present organiser, Pam Turner, with a cheque. Cllr Jo Davis said: “It’s good to see everyone enjoying themselves so much – it’s a great idea and I’m really pleased that the Parish Council has been able to help.”

The Councillors were given a thank you card on behalf of the group by one of the participants, Elsie, who was celebrating her 90th birthday the following day.

Community Grants were also awarded to Swan Transport – Access to Health, SJs Holiday Club, Peasedown Social and Well-being Group and the PCC of Peasedown St John towards the cost of maintaining St John’s Church graveyard.

Event Grants of £1,000 each were also awarded to Peasedown St John Cricket Club towards the cost of the Village Firework Display and Party in the Park, towards the cost of the bands/entertainment for the event.
