The Bath and District Parkinson’s Branch launched their sixth sub-group in the B&NES and Mendip area.

The people of Shepton Mallet welcomed the inaugural

social coffee morning on 30th June at the St Michael’s Church Rooms, 6 Park Road, BA4 5BP. This will be followed with social coffee mornings on the last Thursday of each month from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the help of Health Connections Mendip. Over twenty people attended, benefitting from the friendship and support for local people with Parkinson’s and their carers. It gives all parties the opportunity to meet others facing the same situation in a relaxed setting and to discover what assistance is available from our Parkinson’s Local Advisor.

We currently offer our members pub lunches, gentle exercise classes, hydrotherapy, indoor bowls, research and a wide range of talks.

Robin Tanner, Chairman of the Branch, states: “Our vision is that by 2020 for everyone affected by Parkinson’s at every age and every stage of the condition, we will have realistic expectations of having fair and consistent access to the sort of services and support that we have identified as fundamental to being and staying in control.”
