Paulton is celebrating its success in various categories in the Bath In Bloom awards made on Tuesday, 11th September at the Guildhall in Bath. The whole village was awarded a Silver and a Cup in the Villages category, the Junior School received a Gold Award in the Young People's Category. Paulton Parish Council were awarded Silver for their display at the War Memorial and resident, Lynn Madden, received Silver Gilt in the individual entries.
Councillor John Bull, Chair of Paulton in Bloom, said: "Our award in the Villages Category was a terrific achievement, as it was our first entry ever in the competition. Despite the awful weather on judging day, the Judge was impressed by the community effort which had gone into improving the environment of the village and the work on allotments and conservation. I would like to thank everyone who contributed and look forward to building on this success next year."
Committee member, Hazel Rowcliffe, added: "We have been successful in getting funding from the Sperring Trust to provide some more troughs or planters around the village. However, we will still need to buy compost, bulbs and plants to fill them. Any donations in money or in kind would be gratefully received in order to improve Paulton's village environment."
