There are just days to go until Peasedown St John’s biggest annual event – the eighth Party in the Park village festival.
Sponsored by Michael Gould Property Agents, Care South, Bath Audi, G&S Steeplejacks, St John’s Church, Curo Housing and Peasedown St John Parish Council, more than 2,500 people are expected to come along to enjoy seven hours of live music and entertainment. The event includes a huge array of stalls and attractions, Peasedown’s second Great Village Bake Off, the return of the Peasedown Diamond Cider, the results of the Party in the Park Grant Giveaway, a special 90th Birthday Street Party for HM The Queen, and the announcement of the 2016 Sara Holley Community Award.
Nicola Gould from Michael Gould Property Agents, who are based in the centre of the village, said: “The event organisers have been working very hard to ensure this year’s Party in the Park is the best yet, with even more attractions, performers and celebrity guests. Michal Gould Property Agents are always pleased to support events that make a positive impact in the community, which is why we are pleased to be one of the 2016 official sponsors.”
Main stage performances, which have been sponsored by Peasedown St John Parish Council, include DJ Pete Bailey, the Bath Spa Band, Pheonix Club, Susan Hill School of Dance, Train to Skaville, Bath All Star Cheerleaders, The Blues Others and Step Eadez Dance. The Midsomer Norton Lions Club will be providing over forty hours of volunteer support by helping to staff the festival gates.
Nathan Hartley is Chairman of the festival’s organising committee, and was instrumental in bringing the original team together eight years ago. He commented: “We are hoping to top the last seven festivals and put on a show never seen before in Peasedown St John.
“The team has worked exceptionally hard this year. We have almost sixty attractions, more than fiftyvolunteers signed up to make sure things run smoothly, and have smashed our fundraising target of £3,500 which we need to host the event.
“The nine members of the management team have contributed more than 200 hours of volunteer time to ensure Peasedown’s Party in the Park lives up to its already positive reputation.”
To add extra excitement to the proceedings, this year’s Special Guest Host has been confirmed as Pete Helmore from Somer Valley FM, with the radio station being the festival’s official partner. As well as the Sara Holley Community Award and Somer Valley FM broadcasting live, other attractions and stalls include: Great Western Ambulance, burger van, ice-cream, coffee and doughnuts, Adult Fair Ground Ride, St John’s Church Tent, Hook-a-Duck, Football Penalty Shoot-out, Human Cage, Mini Big Wheel, Children’s Bumper Cars, Peasedown W.I., Midsomer Norton Lions Club, Inflatable Slide, Tea Cups, Tin Can Alley, Sponge Bob Adventure Inflatable, the Red Post Inn beer tent, Face Painting, Glitter Tattoos and Homemade Jewellery, Camerton and Peasedown Croquet Club, candy floss, Bungee Trampoline and much more!
Peasedown St John’s Party in the Park festival will be held on Saturday, 11th June on Beacon Field, French Close (BA2 8SN), from 12 noon – 7 p.m. Parking is limited around Orchard Way, so people are encouraged to walk or use public transport. B&NES Council has granted a road closure for French Close for the duration of the event, which will be facilitated by the Paulton Army Cadets.
