The Peasedown Mini Police have been hard at work today making sure the community of Peasedown St John is rid of litter!

Avon and Somerset Police took to Twitter to praise the group: The dedicated team picked up over ten bags of litter around St Johns Court and Fredrick Avenue, thanks to the support of PCSOs Louise and Tony.

The Mini Police is a nationally recognised scheme enabling young people to have a confident voice and experience policing in their community.

Peasedown St John Primary School, who work with Avon and Somerset Police to deliver the Peasedown Mini Police, highlight the scheme on their website:

"One week we went to Orchard Way with the speed guns to help educate the public on the importance of keeping to within the speed limits.

"Each cadet had the opportunity to use the speed gun but also more importantly, they were able to speak to the drivers that were driving in excess of the limit and explain why it is important for everyone’s safety that speeds are not exceeded.

"The cadets enjoyed a visit from the speed enforcement motorcyclist, who explained how the speed camera works. The cadets were able to run across the playground and have their speed checked!"
