As optimism grows around the redevelopment of Midsomer Norton Town Hall, the Community Trust, which currently manages the building, has welcomed the plans.
“We are obviously delighted by the reports of progress on this project.
“Too often towns like Midsomer Norton can be forgotten. But this would be a modern, World Class facility that will enable local community groups, projects and businesses to compete and reach their full potential on their doorstep.” said Alex Davis, Manager of the Midsomer Norton Community Trust.
As well as the reinstatement of the Market Hall to accompany The Island’s Market Square, the extension would also see proper public toilet facilities installed to provide a much-needed service which has not been properly addressed. There will also be a range of modern but affordable meeting rooms added, including counselling rooms to provide long-term homes for vital mental health services.

Less than three in five A&E arrivals at Royal United Hospitals Bath seen within four hoursThe Town Hall is already one of the most iconic and best used buildings in the town, but the Trust estimate this redevelopment, which would greatly improve its efficiency and sustainability, would see the amount of users and events who benefit from the Community Hub double per year.
Meanwhile, the Community Trust’s cinema programme continues this week with a National Theatre Live broadcast of Phllip Pullman’s The Book of Dust – La Belle Sauvage on Thursday, 17th February at 7pm.
There are also screenings coming up this month of Oscar nominated films such as Nightmare Alley starring Bradley Cooper and Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast.
