Haydon Batch was purchased by Radstock Town Council in 2019 to preserve it from development and to retain it as a public green space. A draft masterplan has now been produced to set out the proposed enhancements on site for the community to enjoy – and the Town Council want to know what you think at a public event being held this week.

Residents are invited to an exhibition taking place at Radstock Community Hub and Library this Friday, 18th March between 2 pm – 5 pm and Saturday (19th March) between 10.30 am until 3 pm. There will be an opportunity to view the plans and to speak with the Landscape Architect.

Guided walks of Haydon Batch will also be taking place this Sunday, 20th March, between 10.30 am until 12 noon for local people to explore the space.

Aspects of the masterplan include a formal entrance to the Batch, with removable bollards to prevent unauthorised access, a proposed football pitch and/or events recreation lawn for larger, organised events, a landmark stone shelter on top of the batch and a ‘conversation circle’ providing informal seats for five to ten people which would be evocative of an ancient stone circle. The plan also includes wheelchair accessible paths, accessible picnic benches and a woodland management plan.

The Exhibition will remain in the Community Hub until Thursday, 24th March 2022. Readers can also view the Masterplan at: www.radstock-tc.gov.uk/about-radstock/things-to-do
