Alex Lovell, from BBC Points West, will be opening Clutton Flower Show this year, along with local MP, Jacob Rees Mogg, on Saturday, 13th August. Alex has professed a recent interest in gardening, so the competitors may find themselves talking to Alex about their growing techniques.

Another attraction for competitors and visitors alike is a new class for bakers: ‘The Great Clutton Bake Off’, this year includes a ‘showstopper’ cake, a loaf of bread and a sweet pastry dish. Television and other shows have brought this new class to the public’s notice and it is hoped that there will be many entries for the judge and visitors to see.

In the giant marquee there will be beautiful flower, vegetable and bonsai entries, as well as classes for cookery, craft, photography, floral art, eggs and children. Once those entries have been admired, it will be time for tea with homemade cakes, or a drink from the licensed bar run by the Young Farmers.

The show on Saturday, 13th August, is in Rudges Field, BS39 5SJ, between Clutton and Temple Cloud, from 1 p.m.

Schedules are available in Clutton Post Office and other retail and food establishments. Please contact joint show organisers, Roger Snary on: 01761 453063 or Pat Williams on: 01761 452183, if there are queries.

In the evening, the fun continues from 8 p.m., with a live band playing until midnight, burgers and salads will be available from the bar and both adults and children are

welcome at the event. Tickets available from Chloe on: 07955 163871, or Aubrey: 01761 452420.
