With just four weeks to go until the EU Referendum, residents will get the chance to quiz prominent local figures on both sides of the debate at a special hustings event at Midsomer Norton Town Hall on Thursday, 2nd June from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Representing the case to remain part of the European Union will be Clare Moody, MEP for the South West and Gibraltar; whilst making the case to leave will be Jacob Rees-Mogg, MP for North East Somerset. The debate is being hosted by Somer Valley FM, alongside the Midsomer Norton Community Trust.

Chairing the debate is the radio station’s Manager, Dom Chambers, who says: “By encouraging debate on the airwaves, we want to provide a framework which will help people make up their minds on how to vote on this fundamental issue.”

Residents can submit questions for the debate in advance by emailing: [email protected] or ringing: 01761 411755. Attendees will be able to join in the conversation on the night, whilst listeners at home can do so using the radio station’s Facebook page or by using #SVFMDebateEU on Twitter, with comments and questions being used to help shape the debate on the night.

Entry is free and attendees are asked to arrive from 6.30 p.m. for a prompt 7 p.m. start, ready for the live broadcast. Refreshments will be available before the debate from the fully licensed bar.

If you are unable to attend in person you can also listen live on 97.5FM or online at www.SomerValleyFM.co.uk from 7 p.m. There are plans to broadcast the debate again in full over the airwaves as polling day approaches.
