During the past year, participants at Wellow Riding for the Disabled, based at Wellow Livery Centre, have not been able to ride, but have instead had the opportunity of participating in ‘Quiet Corner’ at Kilkenny Stables.

Less than three in five A&E arrivals at Royal United Hospitals Bath seen within four hoursQuiet Corner use Shetland ponies to teach the group members how to groom, look after a pony and how to lead it around an obstacle course. Each group member has a volunteer with them for encouragement and support whilst they are learning how to look after the animals.
On April 12th, the group were visited by Ed Bracher, the CE of RDA UK and Lucy Nelson, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, who listened to the members talk them through their new skills, as well as being shown a musical display with hobby horses and the Shetland ponies.
