The local area will fall silent on Sunday, 12th November for Remembrance Sunday, as Midsomer Norton and Radstock’s branch of the Royal British Legion prepare for the local parades.
The Midsomer Norton event, supported by the Town Council, will see contingents meet at Midsomer Norton Social Club at 10.30 a.m., with the parade leaving at 10.40 a.m. to march to the town’s war memorial. There will be a two minute silence at 11 a.m., followed by a service and laying of wreaths. The parade will then march to St John’s Church at 11.30 a.m., with a church service at 11.45 a.m.
The parade will reform at the end of the church service and depart from St John’s, turning left down the High Streeet to the Island and then to the War Memorial, where the parade will disperse. Please note that road closures will be in place in the High Street.
Radstock’s service will begin at 2 p.m., with a non-denominational service conducted by local ministers. The Last Post will be played and precede the two minute silence. Wreaths will also be laid and prayers said.
Chilcompton’s service is due to take place at 3 p.m. at the village War Memorial.
