Dorothy House Hospice Care has announced that a local factory and its staff at Mulberry in Chilcompton, have helped to raise £7,356 for the hospice over the last four years.

Every year, Mulberry has donated a top of the range, luxury handbag as the main raffle prize for the charity’s Bath Moonlight Walk event, and in total, the raffles have raised £3,364 since 2013.

Staff at Mulberry in Chilcompton also raised a further £3,992 (including matched funding) by taking part in other fundraising activities, such as a Dorothy House Fire Walk and a Bake Sale.

The women-only sponsored 8km Moonlight Walk, now in its eleventh year, starts from the SouthGate Shopping Centre in Bath at 10 p.m. on Saturday, 9th September. The event opens at 8 p.m, with stalls offering fabulous merchandise and a raffle competition to win a beautiful Mulberry Bayswater handbag in Midnight blue, which retails at over £1,000.

The ‘Butlers in the Buff’ boys are making a return visit this year, and will be handing out free donuts and chocolates to walkers. Dorothy House’s Frome Friends Group will be selling raffle tickets all evening, and the winner of the luxury handbag will be announced at the end of the walk.

Rob Billington, Group Production and Sourcing Director for Mulberry, said: “We’re delighted to support Dorothy House, as the quality of their care is well regarded and appreciated by so many of our staff at The Rookery factory in Chilcompton. We are pleased to have several staff members taking part in the Bath Moonlight Walk again this year, and wish the event and the hospice every success in the future.”

Current and previous Mulberry employees, Rosie and Emma Wollacott from Kilmersdon, are taking part in the Bath Moonlight Walk for the fourth time. Rosie said: “We’ve been supporting Dorothy House ever since our Granddad was cared for by the hospice before he died in 2007.

“However when two of our Mum’s best friends, Kate and Carole, were helped by the hospice, we learnt about the extensive care and bereavement support they provide for families, carers and children, as well as patients.

“We’re looking forward to doing our fourth Moonlight Walk and we’re excited that our Mum, Trina, will join us for the first time this year.”

Rosie continued: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising over the years, and also say thank you to the nurses at Dorothy House for the support they gave to Kate and her family.”

Emily Knight, Events Fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice Care, said: “We are extremely grateful to Mulberry for their generous and ongoing contribution to the Bath Moonlight Walk over the years, each year the handbag raffle grows in popularity and raises substantial funds.

“Entries are open for the Walk, so don’t forget to sign up for a fun ladies’ night out while supporting your local hospice. For every £1 we receive from the NHS, we have to raise another £4.”

Speaking of Rosie and Emma taking part, Emily said: “We’re extremely grateful for all the amazing fundraising both the Taylor and Wollacott families have achieved to support the work of the Hospice.”

The Bath Moonlight Walk is Dorothy House’s biggest annual fundraiser, and last year, attracted almost 800 entrants, who raised over £95,000 to help the Hospice care for people with life-limiting illnesses. Entries are open at: www.bathmoonlightwalk.org.uk
