This coming weekend is The Festival of British Eventing which takes place at Gatcombe Park, home of the Princess Royal.

Local rider, Rachel Cook, will be competing in The British Eventing Novice Championship, Corinthian Cup, riding her own Lady Loxina, called ‘Lucy’ at home.

Rachel said it has taken two years of hard work to start to make a real eventer out of Lucy, as she would behave badly! When jumping, she would rush her fences and jump flat. With the help of Mandy Collins from West Wilts Equestrian Centre, the pair are now going from strength to strength.

Just twelve weeks ago, Rachel was undergoing emergency back surgery at the RUH in Bath. Back then, she thought that riding at Gatcombe was little more than a dream. Rachel said “This is an amazing opportunity, a dream come true.”
