After more than sixty years of serving the local community, Radco will close its doors to customers and relocate to temporary premises in order for work to commence on the redevelopment of the Radstock site.

The store has been winding down its operation and planning for the move to the temporary, much smaller, purpose-built retail unit at Marcroft Court, Frome Road over the past few weeks. The temporary store (due to open 9 am this Friday, 28th August) will be more than a typical convenience store offering, with hot and cold food-to-go, freshly baked bread and pastries, a large chilled section, including ready-made meals and pizzas, as well as Costa Coffee Express, ATM and Lottery.

The new store also provides a comprehensive Post Office service allowing customers to access the usual range of service they have become accustomed to.

The store will trade daily from 7am to 10pm which provides extended shopping hours to local residents compared to the former Radco store. Customers of the new store will still be able to use the former Radco car parking facility for up to a maximum three hour stay prior to demolition work commencing.

The Travel Business is being located to the Paulton Hill Court unit.

Don Morris, CEO Radstock Co-op said: “Although the final day of trading at the Radco store on Saturday, 22nd August marks the end of an era for many of our customers and colleagues, we look forward with enthusiasm and optimism as the plans for the new site start to become a reality. We are grateful to our members and loyal customers for their support. And, as always, a huge thank you to our dedicated staff who have served the community well over the decades, many of whom will relocate to the new store or others in the local area.

"We look forward to welcoming existing and new customers to the temporary store and to a new chapter in the Society’s history as we progress our ambitious plans for the redevelopment of the Radstock Town Centre.”
