Radstock celebrated its community, nature, landscape arts and creative intervention as it hosted an event to launch the Greenway Arts Trail.

Taking place on Sunday, May 11, the event featured a variety of free, family-friendly activities designed to engage the community and promote active travel.

Highlights included circus workshops and performances at Tom Huyton Park, children's singing workshops with Willow Harwood, live storytelling by Michael Loader, and musical performances by the Radstock Folk Band and local folk artist Owen Seward.

Leading up to the event, local poet and performer Poppy conducted haiku workshops in three primary schools and performed selected poems on the Community Stage during the launch.

The Greenway Arts Trail was developed through a partnership between The Active Way, Radstock Town Council, Radstock in Bloom, Radstock Knitters and All Cycle Bath & West, with funding from the UK Government's cultural programme.

The initiative includes permanent art installations along the Norton Radstock Greenway, encouraging year-round exploration and appreciation of Radstock's cultural heritage.

The Greenway Arts Trail also featured elements of the Wild Words Nature Rubbing Trail designed to help enjoy the outdoors in a fun and creative way, whether it is by walking, scooting, or riding a bike.

Radstock Mayor Chris Dando described the launch of the Greenway Arts Trail as "A true celebration of Radstock's vibrant community spirit.

“Hundreds of people from across the area came together to experience a diverse mix of art installations and performances by local artists and storytellers.

“Many attendees embraced the opportunity to try out various bikes and activities provided by The Active Way, while others engaged in crafting for the first time, creating willow dragonflies, flower crowns, and mandalas.

“It was heartening to see so many people enjoying the day and connecting through creativity and active participation."
