Radstock's central area was again affected this week by long delays to Bath traffic on the A367 and east-bound traffic on Somervale Road, the A362.
Longer term, work is due to start on work on the A367, New Bath Road, just north of Radstock on 6th August until 15th October when a length of 155 yards of foul sewer will be renewed, new manholes built and old ones reconditioned. Traffic will be controlled with stop-go boards.
B&NES Council, commenting on the major roadworks in Radstock which were due to start this spring, says: "The Council has listened to the concerns raised regarding the oak tree in the centre of Radstock and has agreed to do what can be done to save the tree.
"The best chance to successfully transplant the tree will be in November. In addition to transplanting, work is underway to cultivate cuttings from the existing tree.
"Work to the road cannot take place until the tree has been removed from its existing location. In the meantime, the Council is liaising with Linden Homes to work out how best to accommodate the new, improved road scheme within the wider development of the former railway land. A more detailed programme will be available within the next three months."
