B&NES Council is reporting this week that highways work in Radstock is nearing completion and this Friday, 19th June, the new road linking Frome Road to The Street will open.
Works to the roundabout on Wells Hill will be completed this week, including raised traffic islands to separate the traffic and an anti-skid road surface. All new signage will be installed as well as new benches, bins and flower display stands.
The temporary bus stops will close and the new bus stops outside Victoria Hall will be operational from this Saturday, 20th June.
Bath and North East Somerset Council's contractors will return to install a speed ramp on Frome Road from Tuesday, 30th June to Friday, July 3rd, after the Glastonbury Festival traffic has reduced.
Frome Road will be closed to through traffic during this period, but as the new link road will be open, delays should be minimal.
Following this, a highway safety audit will be undertaken. Once the scheme is completed, there will be a 'snagging' process, where any construction issues are addressed.
Bath and North East Somerset Council's Leader, Councillor Tim Warren (Conservative, Mendip), said: "This is good news for Radstock. The Council's new administration sympathises with those who have been inconvenienced during the work and thanks them for their patience. "In the longer term, the new road layout will support improvements for the town, including new housing and jobs."
