Each April, we celebrate our farmer’s market birthday, and this year it is amazingly our fourteenth anniversary.
The longevity of the market has been the result of continued support from a loyal and large customer base, and our local farmers and food producers, who enjoy participating in such a friendly event.
We are very lucky to have attracted some of the best food producers in the area, such as Brown Cow Organic Beef, Wookey Goat Farm, and award-winning cheesemakers, cider makers, bakers and growers, amongst the twenty-or-so stalls. We are also celebrating the addition of an organic vegetable stall, Mayfield Organics, alongside our popular Teeny Greeny Farm, who sell nutrient-dense micro-salads.
With support from Midsomer Norton Town Council, we continue to have local musicians providing entertainment and can enable community groups to take part via the designated community stall. More recently, Thatcher and Hallam Solicitors have begun to enthusiastically support the market, sponsoring new leaflets and banners and advertising which has encouraged many new customers and stallholders to find their way to the market.
In April, we will have an alcohol-themed celebration, with the addition of Nempnett Cider, award-winning Piglet’s Choice Perry, and beer from The Incredible Brewing Company. Alongside this, to add to the atmosphere, traditional music with a Coleford twist from up-and-coming talent Tommy Young, with ballads and banjo!
Come and join the festivities this Saturday, 7th April from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hollies Gardens. For up-to-date news of the market, sign up for a newsletter via our website: www.somersetfarmersmarkets.co.uk
