After last year’s success, a locally-based residential home is once again offering elderly people the chance to come and join them on Christmas day for activities, a meal and some Christmas cheer.

Each Christmas around half a million older people spend Christmas day alone and last year, Beechcroft Residential Home, in Midsomer Norton, decided it wanted to do what it could to help. “Last year’s event was incredibly successful. Our residents and all the staff loved having others over for Christmas”, said Sue Lewis, Manager of Beechcroft. “Everyone had a wonderful time”.

People over the age of 65 are being invited to come to the home from 11 a.m. in the morning until 4 p.m. in the afternoon. This will include a traditional Christmas banquet, some activities in the afternoon and everyone who attends will receive a small gift for Christmas.

“Enjoying Christmas with others around you is what this time of year is all about. It made such a big difference to all our guests. I really hope we have another successful year,” said Sue.
