The future of the Welton Bag site will be the subject of a Welton Village Group workshop evening on Thursday, 23rd January at 7.30 p.m. at Welton Chapel, West Road, Welton.
For the last 180 years, the site has provided local employment, firstly as a brewery, then as a printing company with Standard Check and, finally, as Welton Bibby and Baron, manufacturing bags and packaging. Whilst the departure of 'Welton Bag' in 2013 resulted in the loss of over 300 jobs locally, it will open up new possibilities for either employment, housing or a mixture of both.
"Previously, Welton Village Group asked local residents what their ideas were for Welton Bag. From this, the committee have produced a range of options which will be reviewed by those attending the workshop next week.
"Our aim is to ensure that residents of Welton have an opportunity to participate in shaping the future of this site at the heart of their community," said Ruth Smith, Chairperson of Welton Village Group.
You don't have to live in Welton to attend the workshop and entry is free. There is a free car park at the rear of the chapel. For further
