The fourth Big Family Apple Day held at Farmborough Community Shop at the beginning of October brought in families and fruit lovers from surrounding villages and beyond, thanks to a fortuitous break in the downpours.
Some were keen to make use of their harvest of apples and pears, while others came to see what the day was all about; to take a look around the shop and tuck into a local bacon bap.
Visitors came with trugs, buckets, and boxes of apples and pears and everything was pulped, pressed and juiced ready for drinking or turning into cider with instructions from Tim and Jackie of the Tiny Welly Boot Cidery, who kindly loaned their apple pressing equipment for the day.
The event was fun and friendly, and brought friends and neighbours together for a warm and pleasant afternoon, where they were also treated to a local band serenading them throughout the afternoon.
Donations raised from pressing raised over £100 in support of Farmborough Community Shop. The Big Family Apple Day will return in autumn 2020!
