Motorists in Radstock are being warned to take extra care this week, as drivers begin to get used to the road changes as part of the town's regeneration.
Work to upgrade the road system in Radstock is nearly complete and part of the new road layout is now in operation, as of last week. Drivers are hoping that the long delays they are currently experiencing will soon ease – with reports of the roads being particularly bad now that the children have returned to school after the Easter holidays.
Changes are as follows:
• The Street is now two-way
• Flow of traffic on Fortescue Road has changed direction – now north bound accessed from The Street opposite Victoria Hall
• New roundabout at the junction of Wells Road and The Street is in operation – be careful, as under the new scheme, drivers that need to turn right out of Fortescue Road will have to use this roundabout to U-turn. Fortescue Road is left turn only
• New roundabout on the corner of Frome Road.
In addition to the new road layout, The Street and Fortescue Road have been resurfaced and new paving installed. The full scheme is expected to be completed by the end of April and will include:
• The new road linking Radstock town centre to Frome Road
• Bus stops in a new location outside Victoria Hall.
Drivers should take extra care because of the new road markings and confused motorists!
