What a scorcher of a day, the sun shone brightly on the second DNA arts Round-about Radstock event. Hundreds of people took part in this unique event which brings creative play and theatrical exploration into the heart of the Radstock community.
The DNA arts team brought together an eclectic mix of activities for all the family, from salsa classes and a barn dance in the Working Men’s Club to raft making and pineapple racing on the field. They showcased the most amazing talent from young classical musicians in the Methodist Church and folk musicians in Leigh House garden, who played alongside the beautiful art sessions which hundreds of people took part in throughout the day.
Across the town, street performers were encouraging the adventurer within and inviting people to journey through town with fun, thoughtful, entertainment and slightly wacky activities along the way with some tasty prizes at the end. The whole day was a resounding success.
“The children have been playing and making things all day, it’s brilliant, the best day out ever,” one mother said.
The streets were festooned with glorious banners and bunting all made by local school children, which made the town centre look as bright as the sunshine.
Over 500 people took the Radstock arts passport challenge, with well over 1,000 people visiting the event during the day.
“A really creative connection with a great community in a beautiful setting, with a wide range of people getting involved in activities which they maybe never thought they would or could do,” said Phillippa Haynes, DNA arts’ Director.
DNA arts would like to thank the community and the local venues and organisations involved in the event: Radstock Town Council, Radstock and Westfield Big Local, Radstock Library, St Nicholas Church, Trinity Methodist Church, Leigh House Garden Trust, Musicians South West, the Acoustic Sessions at Victoria Hall and Bath Festivals.
