People living in Peasedown St John and the surrounding area were treated to an evening of Shakespeare, as they’ve never seen or heard him before.
As part of the annual Independent Bath Literature Festival, Beacon Hall was packed out to listen to Martin Dimery – a talented musician and comedian who presented Shakespeare’s life seen through his verse and songs – set in the styles of Elvis, The Beatles, Buddy Holly and others.
Cllr Sarah Bevan (Independent, Peasedown St John) attended the event. She said: “I’d like to thank Danny Brothers, local resident and festival administrator, for bringing the Bath Literature Festival to Peasedown St. John, what a treat!
“Mr Dimery is a real tour de force musically and culturally across the decades! From John Dowland to Roy Orbison, Crowded House down the decades to George Formby, his erudition shines through every number. He’s a true jack and master of all trades literary and musical.”
Martin has performed his unique musical revue of Shakespeare’s life in pubs, clubs and festivals across the region several times before – and each rendition proves to be hugely popular with those that attend.
Peasedown’s W.I. served refreshments before Martin’s performance, and during the interval.
