Radstock Town Council have given notice of a by-election for Radstock Haydon Ward follwing the Notice of Vacancy of a Town Councillor. The poll will take place on Thursday, 15th February 2024 between 7am and 10pm.
Simon de Beer, who is standing for Radstock Haydon Ward, explained why he is a good candidate to The Journal: “I am standing as a candidate in the forthcoming Radstock by-election for Haydon on 15th February, because, having recently retired, I’d like to focus my time and energies for the benefit of Haydon and Radstock.
“I’m keen to see Haydon, along with the rest of Radstock, thrive economically, socially and environmentally and I want to work for the best interests of the area and its future.
“I have lived in the Radstock area since 1981 and in Haydon since 1998 where my wife and I brought up our three sons up in the village. In that time, I have become very fond of both Haydon and Radstock. I’m already actively involved in the local community, including being a new Trustee on the Board for the Radstock Museum; on the Radstock Neighbourhood Planning Group and a member of Radstock in Bloom.
“Having worked in local government for over thirty five years I think I have experience and skills to help me play a useful role on the Town Council and be a strong advocate for Haydon.
“If I’m successful, my aim would be to gain a better understanding of the issues that people in Haydon are concerned about and help find solutions.”
Other candidates running for the Radstock by-election are welcome to submit their profiles to The Journal’s email address: [email protected]
