A local woman, whose family are being supported by CLIC Sargent while her brother fights cancer, is running in the Color Vibe 5k to raise money for the charity that is supporting them.
“I am fundraising for CLIC Sargent as they have done so much for my younger brother, who was diagnosed with cancer when he was eleven. I have done several fundraising events since he was diagnosed and have so far raised £1,110,” said Emma Clark, 23, from Midsomer Norton.
Emma will be running nightly with her sister in preparation, as the two have not been running for a long time. She said: “I see the Color Vibe as not only an opportunity to do something fun with my sister, but another way to raise money for the charity. I was looking for other ways I could raise money, instead of making up events myself, although I do have big plans to organise a masquerade ball next year.”
The Color Vibe 5k is being held on 9th July at Washing Pool Farm in Easter Compton.
CLIC Sargent Running Events Fundraising Manager, Sarah Manion, said: “We’re delighted to have Emma and her sister as part of our Color Vibe team and we can’t wait to cheer them on.
“Running events like this are fun for all the family to get involved in, while making a huge difference to the lives of children and young people with cancer and their families. CLIC Sargent provides support, including social workers, nurses and free accommodation near hospitals, to help families whose lives have been turned upside down by cancer.”
