Somer Valley FM will be celebrating Local Radio Day this Friday, (27th May) and will be actively taking part in the new initiative which was the brainchild of William Rogers, CEO of UKRD.
William said: “We’ve been absolutely delighted by the response we’ve had from stations all over the country, including Somer Valley FM. All of us who have a shared interest and enthusiasm for local radio can get together and celebrate what we all do – Local Radio Day is very much about that.”
The radio station has planned a whole day of special programming which will begin at 7 a.m. with Luke Barnes and Georgia Butler presenting the Breakfast Show live from Midsomer Norton High Street. On the Midday Magazine, Dom Chambers is chatting with leading locals on why local radio is important and long-standing partners, Somervale School will showcase the best of their media coursework between 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
With over fifty stations nationally participating in Local Radio Day, Somer Valley FM’s Dom Chambers said: “We are inherently local from the people we train, to the voices we empower, to the stories we share. It’s wonderful to be part of a day celebrating this with our friends in commercial, BBC and community radio.”
