For those who remember the railway at Green Park fifty years ago and those who do not, there is now a chance to see the whole area, including the Midland Marshalling Yards and Gas Works, which are now completely gone, replaced by Sainsbury, B&Q, office blocks, new housing and new roads.
On the weekend of the 25th and 26th June, there will be an exhibition of S&D Railway, plus trade stalls. The main exhibit will be the wonderful working model of Green Park station and sheds, built by the Taunton Model Railway Engineers, the model is very large at 16 metres long and requires four operators to run it with twelve trains on the layout. Refreshments will also be available.
This all takes place at the main function room at Bath City Football Club at Twerton Park, from 10.30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
To round off our programme of events, an S&D Extravaganza Film Show will be held at the Little Cinema with two afternoon matinees on the 8th and 9th October, when we will be able to watch the S&D on the big screen. Films to be shown are Memories of Somerset and Dorset, Puffed Out, Bristol to Bournemouth via the S&D and Memories on the S&D.
Details of all the above available from Tim Hughes, organiser on 01761 470029, evenings preferable or 07751 030193.
