TWO opticians stores, one in Midsomer Norton and the other in Bath, have been helping vulnerable people this winter through a fundraising initiative and food bank collection.

The Specsavers stores, which are both locally owned and run, pledged to donate £1 for every InMoment customer feedback survey completed, raising a grand total of £452 so far to support Genesis Trust in Bath, a charity dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness in the community.

Alongside this, the team has been collecting essential food items in-store for Genesis Foodbank, encouraging customers to contribute and make a difference during the festive season.

Donations needed include everyday staples such as tinned goods, pasta, rice, and toiletries, all of which will help families and individuals who are struggling this winter.

Specsavers Bath store director, Kimberly McKillop said: “We’re proud to support those in need, especially at this time of year, we’re grateful to our customers for their generosity and hope these efforts will bring some comfort to those facing difficult circumstances.”

Genesis Foodbank in Bath is part of the Bath, Keynsham & Somer Valley Foodbank network, which operates under the local leadership of Genesis Trust Bath and is affiliated with the Trussell Trust.

Its mission is to support individuals and families in crisis by providing nutritionally balanced emergency food parcels and additional help.

The service relies entirely on voluntary donations of food and funds, with strong backing from local churches, schools, supermarkets, businesses, and individuals. Genesis Trust offers broader support through projects aimed at helping vulnerable people rebuild their lives and move from crisis to independence.
