A man with Parkinson’s Disease at Leonard Cheshire Disability’s Greenhill House service in Timsbury will be among those to benefit after a team of fundraisers signed up to run the Bath Half Marathon for the home. The team are hoping to raise at least £2,000, which will go some way towards funding a much-needed new, accessible kitchen.
Eleven runners with a connection to Greenhill House will take on the picturesque, but punishing 13.1 miles on March 13th.
Resident, John Budd, who has lived with Parkinson’s Disease for almost twenty years, entered the Bath Half Marathon himself last year as a wheelchair user and will be among those to benefit from this year’s fundraising.
“For the stimulation it gives me, the home is everything to me,” said Mr Budd, who is sixty-years-old. “Taking part in the Half Marathon last year was the best day of my life.”
Leonard Cheshire Disability supports thousands of people in the UK and around the world to live the lives they choose. “We have a couple of experienced runners signed up, but I have never attempted a marathon of any kind before and many of us are completely new to it,” said Lindsey Swarbrick, who manages Greenhill House and will be taking part in the race.
