Forty-seven years after closure and removal, the 'up' line at Midsomer Norton saw its first public use on Sunday, 21st April.
Members of the Wells Rail Fraternity were the first to travel the rebuilt stretch of track, driving locomotive D1120 from the platform in front of the restored signal box up the line towards Chilcompton.
There will be a chance to be a driver this weekend with two trips on the track, one to learn the locomotive's controls and the second where visitors 'do everything'! The experience will be available to the public over the forthcoming open weekend, Saturday, 27th and Sunday, 28th April, which will enable would-be volunteers to meet those already involved with the project with jobs to suit all ages and abilities. If visiting, please use the car park at Norton Hill School.
