Last year saw the sponsorship of forty graves of service men and women in the local area.

After the success of the sponsorship scheme to honour the graves of local service men and women by dressing their graves, this year sees the addition of another eleven graves in Downside Abbey, Farrington Gurney, Kilmersdon, Chilcompton, St. Benedict’s and St. Vigor’s in Stratton-on-the-Fosse and Ston Easton.

The sponsorship attracts a donation of at least £10, which covers the cost of the Poppy Spray; however, the sponsor will also receive a thank you certificate, a War Grave Card with details of the person they have sponsored, and where relevant, a CWGC certificate for that individual.

A personalised Remembrance card will be affixed to the Poppy Spray with the name of the sponsor, the name of the service man/woman.

If you would like to sponsor a War Grave, please contact a branch member or email the President, Wing Commander Geoff Wilson: [email protected]

Once sponsored, the sponsor will have the first offer of sponsoring the War Grave in future years, but is not committed to more than a year at a time.
