Midsomer Arts Festival are organising four competitions as part of this year’s event and are inviting people of all ages and abilities to take part.

The theme of the photography competition is Views of Midsomer Norton – patterns, textures and details. Entrants are invited to take photographs of the town that zoom in and focus on small details, such as textures and patterns within the environment, or that show small and potentially hidden or unseen aspects of the town.

The colouring competition has four different drawn images of Midsomer Norton for each age category. People can colour these in using any colour scheme and media.

The third competition is to create a graphic design to promote the theme of PEACE, which combines both text and image. Entrants may use any media (such as pencil, ink, paint, collage), and designs can be colour or black and white.

Finally, there is a film and video competition. Entries by groups or individual are welcomed, and the films should be between one and three minutes in length. The theme for the film or video is Movement in Time and Space, within the local area.

In all the above competitions, the following age categories apply: up to ten years, eleven to fifteen years, sixteen to twenty, and 21 plus.

Further instructions, information and entry forms can be collected from the Community Trust offices at the Town Hall, or from Norton Hill School reception, Midsomer Norton Library and several other venues around the town. There are prizes in each category in each competition and the Arts Festival team are grateful to local groups and businesses for their sponsorship.

The deadline for all entries is Monday, 13th June and entries should be handed in to the trust offices at the Town Hall or to Norton Hill School.
