Midsomer Norton resident contacts The Journal with the final saga of the 11-foot sunflower, which has unfortunately fallen victim to the strong winds.
"I was wondering how to reach the seed head, in the middle of our vegetable patch, to cut it off and then to cut the remainder of the stalk.
"The wind on Wednesday [20th] morning (this morning), solved the problem for me. It became quite easy to reach; and better still no damage to anything else around. On measuring at a lower level the head was 20inches across and the stalk 9inches in circumference. If one 'pops up' again we'll transplant nearer a wall for support!
