The South West in Bloom judges for the Ayre Cup competition, Josephine Spring and Richard Beale, were welcomed to Radstock by the Vice-Chair of B&NES Council, Cllr Eleanor Jackson, the Mayor of Radstock, Cllr Rupert Bevan, and the Chair of Radstock in Bloom, Royston Knight last week.
The judging route began at Radstock Museum, one of the sponsors of In Bloom, as this year’s theme of ‘Co-operation’, was inspired by the celebration of 150 years of Radstock Co-operative Society in the exhibition in Radstock Museum.
RADCO itself was an important part of the entry, but so were the serried ranks of hanging baskets in the centre of Radstock and the tubs and coal trucks, sponsored by the Town Council and the Radstock Traders and churches.
In fact, Radstock in Bloom would not work without co-operation at all levels – from the children at St Nicholas CofE Primary School and Writhlington School, to the many
volunteers across the town.
The route ended at the SWALLOW Café, with the Chair of B&NES Council, Cllr Karen Walker, present to meet the judges.
Radstock in Bloom would like to thank everyone who contributed, and remind people that we are always looking for more volunteers!
