We had a huge response to our Mystery Photograph this week so thank you to all of those who participated, whether you guessed correctly or not!

A massive thank you to Radstock Museum who provided us with last week’s photograph of Foxcote Colliery.

Well done to those of you who guessed correctly: Simon Chard, Jeff Parsons, Les Box, Hannah Selway, Martin Horler, Nigel Gillard and Dan Clark.

Reader, Nigel Gillard, says: “This week’s mystery photo shows Foxcote Colliery c1930, just prior to closure.

“The colliery was dismantled during the fifties. Coal was distributed via a tramway to Lower Writhlington pit and to Turner’s Tower coal depot.

“The engine inspection pit at the bottom of the tramway to Writhlington is all that remains.”

Radstock Museum have kindly provided this week’s picture – can you guess where it was taken?
